LSC priorities hub introducing the issues and communities served by civil legal aid

LSC communicates about civil legal aid across a wide range of issues and audiences, but those priorities did not have a centralized digital home.

I proposed and implemented a new priorities hub that brings those issues together in one web experience by giving audiences clearer paths into LSC’s work while creating stronger destinations for search, social campaigns, stories, data, and resources.

OPPORTUNITY

From individual topics to a connected system.

LSC already had content related to key priority areas, but audiences did not have one clear place to explore how civil legal aid intersects with the people, issues, and communities the organization serves.

The opportunity was to create a more intentional content architecture: one central hub supported by focused landing pages that could bring related stories, data, resources, and campaign content together.

The priority pages are live, but are not yet incorporated into LSC.gov’s main navigation or primary information architecture.

CONTENT STRATEGY

Designing around the questions audiences are asking.

I proposed dedicated pages for seven priority areas, creating clearer entry points for audiences looking for information about how civil legal aid intersects with specific communities and issues.

Working from content drafted by LSC’s communications strategist, I adapted the material for the web—shaping hierarchy, page structure, headings, metadata, and supporting content with search visibility and answerability in mind.

What does LSC know about the need?

CONTENT DESIGN

Making complex legal issues easier to navigate.

Each priority page needed to communicate a complex issue without becoming a wall of information. I used content hierarchy, photography, reusable components, and clear pathways to related resources to make the pages easier to scan while maintaining enough depth for audiences who wanted to explore further.

CLEAR ENTRY POINT

Lead with a focused explanation of the priority and its relationship to civil legal aid.

HUMAN CONTEXT

Use people-centered photography and stories to connect the issue to lived experience.

ISSUE DATA AND SUPPORTING RESOURCES

Pair key statistics with a supporting fact sheet to clarify the issue’s scale and invite deeper exploration.

CONNECTING THE ISSUE TO LSC’S WORK

Use people-centered imagery and program links to show how LSC supports workforce development.

CAMPAIGN STRATEGY

Giving campaigns somewhere meaningful to land.

The priority pages also created dedicated destinations for issue-based social campaigns. Instead of asking a single post to carry the full story, campaign content could introduce an issue and direct audiences to a page where related data, client stories, fact sheets, and other resources could live together.

  3. DATA · STORIES · FACT SHEETS · RESOURCES

The landing page becomes the connective layer between awareness on social media and deeper exploration on LSC.gov.

IMPACT + REFLECTION

Building connections, not just pages.

The project established a new framework for organizing LSC’s priority issues across the website. Rather than treating each page as an isolated destination, the system creates stronger connections between campaigns, stories, data, resources, and the broader mission of civil legal aid.

For me, the project reinforced that content strategy is often less about creating more content and more about designing better relationships between what already exists.

CENTRALIZED DISCOVERY
Seven priority areas now have a shared digital framework that gives audiences clearer entry points into LSC’s work.
CONNECTED CAMPAIGNS
Issue-based campaigns can lead audiences from a social post into a deeper ecosystem of relevant web content.
REUSABLE STRUCTURE
A repeatable page system creates a foundation for organizing priority content consistently as the site evolves.
